Week 2: Infused Classroom: Canva
Canva: Could this tool be useful within my classroom?
I began this week by discovering new tools, tips, and tricks I could use within my classroom from Holly Clark's blog, Infused Classroom. She recently created a blog discussing Canva for education, and WOW am I glad she did!
Why is Canva great for engagement and learning?
Canva is a tool that allows students to become innovators within the classroom. As Holly described, students are able to create graphics, infographics, and various other projects to display their knowledge and understanding of a concept. What I particularly liked about this tool was that there are multiple templates, videos, graphics, etc. that I can use to create assignments and activities for my students. Who doesn't love being able to add Bitmoji's to their assignments?
Think that's the best feature about this tool? Well think again! Since I am teaching both virtually and in- person during this pandemic, I am constantly using my Google account and almost every feature they offer- in the educational sense. Therefore, I loved the fact that you can access your content from Google Drive, as well as Dropbox and Folders, and share these products to Google Classroom. All teachers need to do to allow students to access the assignments and create new products is to invite students to their class via Google Classroom.
Ways I plan to use Canva in my classroom:
1. Quick reflections- These will allow me to identify students key takeaways from lessons or activities. This is a great formative assessment tool that can be done in no time!
2. Collaborative Designing- Holly describes how students can share a Canva with one another. This is a great way to have students collaborate and communicate effectively to create a finished product they can be proud of.
I look forward to utilizing Canva within my classroom to get students engaged, collaborating, and creating unique products to express their learning!
Awesome! I also just read a great blog about canva as well and it really does sound amazing! Are you worried that your students won't be able to navigate through this site or do you feel pretty confident that they will be able to adapt quickly?
ReplyDeleteThat was from me, Barbara:)
DeleteI feel like this could be challenging at first for students to navigate, but I look forward to seeing how it can be used to help students be successful.
DeleteYes, Canva is a great tool for creating infographics. You will have the option to use it, or other tools that can be used for creating infographics, later in this course.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your review/discussion of Canva! My students this week (as discussed in my post) had the option of using this tool to create an infographic about Point of View in our novel, and I CAN'T WAIT to see what they come up with!
