Week 5: New Tool: Kami

Kami

Kami has been a lifesaver during Distance Learning! Kami is a free digital classroom app that can transform any already existing document into an interactive and engaging learning experience. Kami can be integrated into Google Classroom, Schoology, and Canvas.

Uses for Kami:
I currently have students Kami when I am uploading worksheets or paper assignments to Google Classroom. Students can then open these documents in Kami, either type, highlight, or write onto it, and then turn it in on Google Classroom. This helps during Distance Learning, since I am not able to physically hand students papers to complete.

Changes I could make in the future:
In the future, I could try to use Kami in more collaborative ways with students. I could potentially have students use Kami to complete different parts of an assignment.

Comments

  1. Hi Kayla! This is the second time I've seen someone mention using Kami. I definitely need to try it out. Was it hard to implement? I feel like everytime I try to implement something new into my students routine they tend to shut down or get super frustrated. Just this week, a new writing website and had quite a few students overwhelmed. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Kayla,
This resource is definitely one that I want to look into further for my students to possibly use. In the classroom there is often times when I want to share a document with them but haven't found an engaging way to do so. I really like the feature of writing on the document and then adding it to Google Classroom to turn in. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I just started using Kami a bit recently with a free trial. It integrates perfectly with Google Classroom, so when I go to grade an assignment, I can click on a little button that says "grade with Kami" and then I can use all those tools to grade! So for math assignments I can circle where they had a misstep, or on a text I can underline or highlight something. It's a great tool, I just wish it was free! -Jenny Kelly (Week 5)
