Week 8: New Tool: Mote

 Mote

This week I have been becoming more and more familiar with the Google extension, Mote. Mote lets you easily add voice notes and feedback to shared documents and assignments.

How I have been using this tool:
I have been using this tool to comment on students' assignments and provide them with oral feedback while distance learning. Other uses for this tool include recording videos and/or creating Slides and inserting audio. This has been very helpful when explaining information to students that I have sent online, or simply just incorporating more audio components into their assignments.

Changes I would make in the future:
In the future, I would like to test and see if students could also download this tool to provide voice notes and feedback on their assignments. This would allow me to assign activities for them in which they need to provide their responses via Mote. I could also attempt to use this on shared Google Slides, so that I can assign each student a specific role and/or slide, and they could then add information, images, and explain their topic.

  1. Hi Kayla!
I love this extension! It has made my life so much easier. I mainly use it for providing feedback to my students through google classroom but it is also pretty easy to use on slideshows! My students have also told me how much they appreciate hearing my voice and don't need to read anymore feedback on any of their work.
    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Kayla,

I also have used Mote to provide my students with feedback on their work. Some of the students I work with struggle with reading so this audio feedback tool has been useful while working with students remotely. I did not know you were able to using Mote on Google slides. I will have to look into using this to enhance future Google slide lessons.

  3. Hey Kayla,

I just started using mote recently after learning about it in this class! I love how easy it is to use. Funny that you mention student use as I tried to have my student use it today and sadly our district has blocked them from adding this extension on their chromebook. I'm not sure why or if they have just blocked their ability to add any extension. Hopefully your students are able to use it!
