Week 10: Infused Classroom: Sketchnoting

Sketchnoting

Sketchnoting, AKA "doodling for learning," is a more modern and effective way for students to take notes. They are able to track their thoughts using illustrations, symbols, and texts. This allows them to deepen their understanding of a concept using visuals.

How it works:

Students must first gather the necessary materials before beginning. Next, students must identify the main topic in which they will be taking notes over. Students must then actively listen to the information, and while listening, they will identify and record ideas and quotes. After identifying the important information, students may add personalized visuals, such as arrows, stars, clouds, etc.

Benefits:

- Increases retention
- Increases focus
- Customized notes

  2. I can see this being geared toward middle and high school students. This looks so cool and may really help students who need visual supports! I could see an application for elementary teachers who create guided notes for their students or for students who have guided notes as an accommodation in their IEP. I will have to check this out!
